2020 Centerville City added the Select League to our City. 

We are adding a new league to our baseball program to fill a need that we’ve seen evolve over the last several years.  Our league, and every other community baseball program in the country, has lost a lot of kids to Comp Baseball.  While this might be the right fit for some kids looking for more competitive play, you lose the community feel that you get with the rec league—not to mention the cost and the travel!  

We are offering another alternative.  

Centerville Baseball is introducing the Select League (XTRA League) to provide a higher level of competition for talented and motivated baseball players who are willing to commit more time and energy to the improvement of their skills in a team focused environment.  Teams will work hard to win games, but winning will never be more important than development, teamwork and good sportsmanship.  Players will be expected to develop and display discipline, resilience, coachability and leadership on and off the field.  Because this league is designed with the higher skilled and more committed player in mind coaches will have higher expectations of attendance, performance and attitude.  Positions will be assigned and play time awarded based on merit, performance and commitment.  

A tryout is required for this league.  Players will need to demonstrate that they have a sufficient foundation of baseball fundamentals and understanding of the game.  We will field as many teams as we have the talent and coaching staff to accommodate.

• This League will available to MUSTANG and BRONCO age groups. (Grades 3-6)  
• Players will be required to register and play on a regular rec team in addition to their XTRA League team in order to qualify for this new league. 
• You will be committing to at least 1 rec game and 1 XTRA game/week plus a post season tournament.
• The cost to participate will be $250-$300 for the year. (This will cover league fees, uniforms, ump fees, Rec league participation fees, etc.)
• You can expect 1-3 practices/week depending on the coach.
•  We will have some interleague play and some comp teams invited to join us to keep things challenging and competitive. Games will mostly be played in Centerville this first year but can be scheduled anywhere between Bountiful and Layton as we add other cities to the league in the future.
